FAQ

Precision that moves at your pace.

Q01

How quickly can I get an appointment?

Same-week slots open each Monday morning and are available Tuesday through Saturday. If you call or email before noon on Monday you can usually get in by Thursday of the same week. For specific services like colour corrections, a short phone consultation is needed first, which we can usually fit in the same day you enquire.

Q02

Do I need a patch test before my first colour appointment?

Yes, always. We require a patch test 48 hours before any new chemical service. Colour, bleach, or keratin. If you have been a client before but it has been more than 12 months since your last chemical service, we ask for a new patch test. We can post a test kit to you or you can come in for five minutes to have it done.

Q03

What happens if my appointment runs over?

If we run over your booked time by more than ten minutes through no fault of your own, we apply a discount to your next visit. We track our timing carefully and it does not happen often, but we think it is only fair to hold ourselves to the same standard we ask of clients who arrive on time.

Q04

Can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?

We ask for 48 hours notice to reschedule or cancel without a charge. Cancellations inside 48 hours are charged at 50% of the service price, and no-shows are charged in full. We know life happens. If something genuinely unexpected comes up, call us directly and we will do our best to work something out.

Q05

Is there parking nearby?

Broughton Street Lane is in central Edinburgh, so on-street parking is limited. The nearest car park is on Picardy Place, about a four-minute walk. Most clients arrive by bus or on foot. If you are driving from outside the city, the Omni Centre car park on Leith Walk is a reliable option.

Q06

Do you do colour corrections on hair that has been chemically straightened?

It depends on the condition of the hair and how recently the straightening was done. Alan Marsden will assess this on a call before booking. We do not take colour correction bookings blind. Some combinations are safe to work with; others need a longer recovery period first. We will tell you honestly which category you are in.
